The Wasps Trust
The Wasps Trust was formed in late 1993 as a charity which buys and develops property for arts use. The Trust works principally with Wasps Artists' Studios (Wasps Ltd) providing affordable, good quality workspace for visual artists and cultural organisations across Scotland.
More than £15 million in private and public sector capital funds has been raised to date towards the Trust's investment programme. The Trust currently owns six studio buildings in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Irvine and Fife, and is leading the £6.5 million renovation of the Grade A listed Briggait in Glasgow's Merchant City.
In addition to supporting the Scottish arts sector, the Trust gives new life to old, redundant but often historic buildings, creates new facilities and helps to regenerate communities.
There are currently 5 trustees drawn from the property professions.
