Back From Glasgow

The Anna Lobner Glasgow/Dusseldorf Exchange update

10 November 2011

Artists who have taken part in the Wasps Anna Lobner Exchange have hosted an exhbition in Dusseldorf to celebate being part of our residency. The show, Back From Glasgow, illustrates a small part of the timeline in which our residency has been operating and the connections and friendships it has forged.

Kirsten Krueger and Sebastian Wickeroth were invited to work in Glasgow in 2009 and 2010 respectively for the Anna Lobner exchange. They took the opportunity to explore the city and beyond and developed new work in our Hanson Street Studios whilst they were here.

The Anna Lobner exchange has been going since 2004 and was set up by artist Anna Lobner. Anna originally came from Dusseldorf but worked between her studio there and East Campbell Street, Glasgow. Sadly Anna passed away in 2009 but her memory lives on through this wonderful opportunity that she created for artists.

Over the years, many of the Glasgow and Dusseldorf based artists have crossed paths time and again, so now whenever artists are selceted to participate in the exchange, they already have a large network of friends awaiting them in either city! At the moment artist Cornelius Quabeck is working on some new paintings in Dennistoun, Glasgow and Alexis Dirks has just returned from two months of experimentation and development in her Himmelgeister Str studio.

Back from Glasgow is on at Atelier Am Eck in Dusseldorf until 18th November 2011.We hope to exhibit works by Cornelius Quabeck and Alexis Dirks in the Briggait next year.
