Directions
A former tobacco factory, Wasps' largest building was redeveloped in 2001 to become Scotland's first purpose-built studio and events complex for 200 artists each year.
At a cost of £2.2million, this world-class facility was funded by SAC National Lottery, Glasgow City Council, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, The Gannochy Trust, The Hugh Fraser Foundation, The Craignish Trust and the Trades House of Glasgow Commonweal Fund with corporate support from Park Systems Furniture and Soluis Technologies.
The complex boasts excellent facilities and incorporates:
77 studios for individual artists
Studio sizes range from 175 sq ft to 1000sq ft. Each studio is heated,
has good natural light, is secure and there is an intercom telephone
for every 4 studios. There are currently 150 artists within the
studios. We also have short-term let and project spaces available to
artists and organisations
4000sq ft events space
Wasps are currently welcoming proposals from an individual curator,
arts organisation or arts collaborative to develop and manage an
exciting new programme of events for the project space. If you are

Café
There is a café in the entrance foyer which is operated by Cafe
Sejuiced. Here you can enjoy tasty sandwiches, gourmet soup, hot food,
fresh coffee, snacks and baked goods to sit in or take away. The café
is open from 10am till 5pm, Monday - Friday and 10am till 4pm at the
weekends.
Accessibility
The Adapt Trust advised Wasps during the design stage to ensure the
complex was fully accessible for people with disabilities. There is an
access ramp at the entrance to the building, a lift to all levels and
accessible parking spaces, toilets and showers.
Glasgow Ceramics Studio
GCS have almost 3000 sq ft of open plan workspace for 26 ceramicists.
The studio has excellent facilities - a kiln room with extraction and

Architectural Glass Artists
AGA have 1400 sq ft for 16 glass artists. The studio too has excellent
facilities with heating, water supply, sandblasting and acid etching

Artists self-use kitchen space
Residential accommodation
The complex offers a residential 3 bedroom flat which can accommodate 3 people (preferably practicing artists). The rental is £195 + bills & Council tax, and we would require 1 month's deposit and a signed 6 month contract on moving in. The flat has a shared living room, fitted kitchen, bathroom and gas central heating. If you are interested in renting a room please contact us.

38, 42, 138 bus from outside Queen Street Station to Alexandra Parade. Get off at the stop after Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Hanson Street is the next street on the right.
Alternatively, the studios are a 20-25 minute walk from the city centre. From George Square walk up to Cathedral Street and continue until you reach the Cathedral and Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI). Follow the road to the left around GRI onto Alexandra Parade. Hanson Street Studios is the first building on your right after the GRI.
Accessibility
The Hanson Street studio building is fully accessible. Car parking is free, with disabled parking spaces available.
