Exhibitions and Project Spaces
What spaces do you have?
In addition to providing studio space, we also house five exhibition / project spaces in various venues across Scotland. These spaces are either programmed directly through our main head office, by partner organisations or by the arts community within each complex.
Each exhibition/project space is unique and they provide varying opportunities for artists to mount exhibitions and events.
How are these run?
Artist, Ellie Harrison, is the gallery representative and she works alongside Wasps' staff team to programme a wide range of exhibitions for emerging artists. Regular shows include an annual photography exhibition by City of Glasgow College, exhibitions by students from various Art Schools and Parade Artists, an artist collective based within the building.
We welcome proposals for the Hanson Street project space all year round and artists are charged a small fee for the use of the space. If you would like to out forward a proposal to hire this space for an exhibiton or event please forward six images of your recent work, a CV and a proposal of what you plan to do to firstname.lastname@example.org
The Briggait houses two street-front galleries and a beautiful public Courtyard that dates back to 1873. A panel of 8 artists and programmers who are already based within the building meet monthly to review exhibition proposals and select a programme of work.
These street front spaces are programmed through open call submission and we put a call out for proposals twice a year. The next call for proposals will take place in June 2013 and will be advertised via our facebook and twitter feeds.
Patriothall Gallery is run by a voluntary collective of artists who are based within the building. The gallery has a 19 year history of providing exhibiting opportunities for hundreds of emerging and mid-career artists. It holds up to 20 exhibitions each year and is a great opportunity for emerging and mid-career artists to show their work. Please visit Patriothall Gallery’s website for more information.
This is a shop-front project space which has a fantastic mix of events programmed by local arts organisation, Project Slogan. Project Slogan offer exhibiting and other opportunities for emerging artists and aims to encourage experimentation whilst supporting the creation of new art.
We lease The Steeple' stunning project space to local arts charity, SteepleArts, who carry out a wide range of local community events. Steeple Arts is made up of artists, craftspeople and supporters who are committed to encouraging participation in the arts within Newburgh and the surrounding area.
