Langstane Place Studios

Langstane Studios, is a former print works. With support from the Scottish Arts Council Capital Lottery Fund, Aberdeen City Council and Scottish Enterprise Grampian, we were able to buy and redevelop this building back in 2005. This building houses 32 studios over 3 floors and currently supports 39 artists. In addition to studios, this building also has a shop-front project space run by local arts organisation Project Slogan in partnership with Photoghost - a photographic production facility.  On the 19th and 20th October, the studios will be open to the public as part of Wasps Open Studios 2013. Alongside Open Studios there will be some additional activities run in conjunction with the BIG DRAW – Campaign for Drawing:

Both Days:

12noon – 2pm: Portraiture in Action Demonstrations – Keith Byres

An opportunity to see portraiture in action at the studios with a live model. Looking at portraiture as conversation. Feel free to discuss while artist at work. 

Saturday 10am – 5pm & Sunday 12noon - 5pm:

Various times during the two days: Make a concertina drawing book with artist Lorraine Taylor

Drawing our town of the present and future making a long cityscape. First floor, communal area and ‘the pend’ open plan area of Studios. Lorraine Taylor, Debby Forsyth and Fiona Swapp.

Saturday between 12 noon and 4pm: 

Performance Piece – Peter McRae

Peter McRae, as the former (disgraced) ‘Banker Man’, performs in ‘Stairway to Heaven’, in the main stairwell, between 2nd and 3rd floors.

This is a city centre location, right next to Union St and about 5 mins walk from Aberdeen train station.


There is no lift at this site and limited disabled access is limited with only the ground floor studios being wheelchair accessible.
