Unit F, 41 Purdon Street
Partick
Glasgow G11 6AF
This studio is let on a long-term basis to Pulp, a papermaking workshop which provides a range of services for experienced artists and makers as well as those just beginning to explore this versatile medium. Throughout the year there are a variety of activities held within the space including evening Classes, weekend Courses and day Courses. These focus on all aspects of papermaking by hand, artist bookmaking and related media and aim to encourage creative participation from all walks of life with all levels of experience.
Collaborations, commissions and external art projects are regularly undertaken and, in the past year, workshops have been provided for host organisations working in areas such as the visual arts, environmental awareness, healthcare and education. Through hiring, the workshop provides supported access to specialist equipment that is exceptional in its professionalism and scale and, since the launch of PULP in 2004, many artists have made use of the facility and the technical assistance available to produce their own work.
Pulp has a range of paper-based crafts for sale at the open studios weekend in October, including handmade Japanese notebooks, beautiful decorated lanterns, original prints and a selection of quality handmade papers produced at the workshop.
