I am an artist who works across several art forms : traditional and digital print, papermaking, artist's books, mosaics, and video. In 1999 I left Edinburgh College of Art where I taught for 21 years latterly as Head of the Printmaking Department, School of Drawing and Painting , to become a freelance artist/educator.
Since then I have conducted independent workshops in different media such as Japanese Mokuhanga (water based woodcut print), papermaking and other print media. These workshops have taken place in the UK and abroad in various universities, colleges and art institutions. During 2006 I had a book published by A&C Black, Bloomsbury entitled 'Papermaking for Printmakers' which has sold worldwide.
I have visited Japan several times to learn traditional print and papermaking skills and a recent residency was at the Joan Miro Foundation in Spain where I worked on a series of lithographs at Miro's workshop in Mallorca.
