Glasgow painter and printmaker John Taylor presents an exhibition of proofs from some of his favourite collaborations during his time with the Glasgow Print Studio. John has been highly influential in the painting and printmaking community in Glasgow, with a career spanning over 50 years. John has also been a Wasps tenant and Gallowgate Artists Studios stalwart for many years.
Printer's Proofs will include a diverse range of prints from artwork and artists John worked with over his many years with the Glasgow Print Studio.
In 1973 I joined the Print Studio in St Vincent Crescent in Glasgow as a part-time screen printing technician. Soon after, we moved to much larger premises on Ingram Street where a large gallery wa created on the other side of the workshop. For me this was a most exciting time. Glasgow Print Studio was like an arts centre with theatre, film, poetry, music, lectures, fundraising event and of course some memorable art exhibitions. During this oeriod the production of fine art prints increased. as it did when the studio moved to King Street. I finished there in 1998 to continue making art full time at my studio at East Campbell Street. Listed below are some of the artists I editioned with - many of national and international standing.
