Wasps and the Briggait are delighted to present 'Floor', a solo exhibition from Jason Kerley as part of Wasps 'Time Being' Programme.
Exhibition Open: 12th October - 1st November
The two installations that Floor comprises of are improvised 3D arrangements of drawing. In one room an amalgamation of marks is brought together to form a swirling mass of mycelium like tendrils; in the other a composition of A3 works fall from the paper they are carved from.
The artist remarks "Although cutting the mark-making from card gives them a Z dimension, I see them sitting closer to drawings than they do sculptures. That might seem to be an overly semantic definition, (and maybe it is), but I like that to me they feel like they are doing something they shouldn't be."
The motivations behind this work are felt to be as entangled and convoluted as the paper. The artist is keen to encourage transparency and navigate away from any apparent flowery statements. You can ask the artist questions directly about specific “hows” and “whys” here: jasonkerley.co.uk/floor
Time Being Programme
Our Time Being exhibitions are available to view, 24 hours a day, from street-side through the gallery windows. While we can't allow visitors into our gallery spaces, the Time Being programme allows us to showcase some of our tenants' incredible work.
