In partnership with Creative Scotland, Orkney Islands Council and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, we have been able to redevelop the former Stromness Library which had been empty since the library was moved to new premises in 2011.
The local community have been very keen to see the building being brought back into use and they are delighted that the building will now be used as artists’ studios.
This beautiful studio project will provide a permanent home for Solisquoy printmakers and four studio spaces for artists based on the island. A larger studio space on the first floor provides a shared space for a creative collective or artists working in similar materials.
Stromness Studios officially opened in October 2016.
There is still a space available on the first floor which can house three artists and makers.. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact our studios administrator Lois Green firstname.lastname@example.org.
