Barry Allan Scott Fine Art

Barry Allan Scott has a degree in fine art from Duncan of Jordanstone college of art and an MFA from the 3-year program at the University of Maryland, USA where he explored drawing, painting and sculpture. Barry was awarded the Mitchell Prize at Duncan of Jordanstone and the David Driskell Award for excellence in teaching and studio practice at Maryland.

Barry has attended residencies in the States at Vermont Studio centre and also at the Atlantic centre for the arts, in Florida, working with renowned artists such as John Torreano, Arnold Mesches and Kerry James Marshall.

Having spent years as an art teacher near Washington DC, in the USA, Barry also worked for a short time as a sculpture assistant to the artist Joan Danziger.

Barry returned to the Perth area to be near his family, where he taught leisure classes with Perth College.
Barry's personal work can be a little dark and cathartic.  A respite from working as a caregiver in both professional and personal life.
Lately however, Barry has been using art to focus on just being, working from life… that can be hard enough without a killer virus doing the rounds.
Barry also works to commission; illustrations, portraits of dogs, cats and people but occasionally painting from the landscape, these are often worked on in a detailed way with pastels or oil paints.
Barry enjoys working liberally and viscerally, tightening up his work considerably as he works in subsequent layers.
