- Visual Arts
Alison is a visual artist who grew up in Birnam and has been based at WASPS Perth Creative Exchange since the building opened in 2019. A graduate in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone, she exhibits around Scotland and has taken part in the RSA, RGI and RSW Open exhibitions.
Her work begins with a reaction to a place or a moment and is a result of initially painting or drawing in the landscape, recording the sights, sounds and sensations of being in that place. Then prompted by recordings, sketches and found objects she continues to develop work in the studio. She is interested in mark-making in order to express feeling and atmosphere and enjoys exploring new materials and techniques therefore her work is constantly evolving. Artist books are an interesting way of combining visual material in a more sculptural and tactile form.
In addition to her own practice she enjoys enabling people to learn new skills and develop their own creativity by delivering workshops in hospitals for Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust and also has experience working with community groups, families and with residents in care homes.
