My work often depicts intimate spaces, such as domestic settings. I work from my own photography and film stills, as well as found imagery such as postcards and prints. I am interested in the aesthetic relationship between drawing, painting and print, themes of repetition, as well as the ambiguous nature of tonal imagery that can bring uncertainty to an image, or lead us to question familiar scenes.
My practice is predominantly oil-based and focuses on creating monochrome paintings and drawings. Most of my works are produced by continuously adding and removing paint onto a variety of smooth, glossed surfaces. Through this technique I try to explore the different qualities of light and shade which ultimately reveals an emotional weight held within each image.
