The Admiral’s House is set in an idyllic location in the Braes on the east coast of the Isle of Skye. A former blackhouse, the building was donated to Wasps by the family of Vice Admiral Sir Roderick (Roddy) Macdonald KBE. As well as serving as a naval officer, Admiral Roddy was a keen amateur artist and kept sketchbooks documenting his travels around the world before retiring to Skye.

The renovated building offers three studios – Admiral Roddy’s, Lady Joan’s and Alan Macdonald’s studios – alongside three bedrooms, a large communal living room and a kitchen area. The Admiral’s House is available to all kinds of visiting artists and creatives that are looking for the time and space to realise new work in an inspiring location. We invite applications from artists of all disciplines and stages in their career. Collectives as well as individuals are accepted as residents.
