Designed by award-winning architects NORD, South Block provides 96 studios for Glasgow’s creative community including:
South Block has a flexible exhibition and projects space on the ground floor of the building. In programming this space, Wasps has a focus on works with design-based processes.
The space is substantial and gets lots of natural light from a large full length window which looks out onto Osborne Street. This space lends itself for exhibitions, evening events, gatherings and talks. There is also a meeting space to the rear of the building up a small set of stairs which can be used for small screenings, meetings and workshops.
Bookings and notes of interest for the space are taken by the reception team at South Block. If you are interested in using this space for your creative event or exhibition, please contact projects@waspsstudios.org.uk. See full details of the space by clicking the link below.
The South Block renovation project costs amounted to £3.5 million, met with generous support from the funders who recognised the value of this facility in the area: Creative Scotland; Scottish Investment Fund; Scottish Enterprise; European Regional Development Fund; Glasgow City Council; Glasgow City Heritage Trust; and Merchant City Townscape Heritage Initiative.
Tenants of the Wasps community receive the following benefits:
South Block is largely accessible. The meeting space on the ground floor however has some steps leading to it so visitors with disabilities may require assistance.
