Fiona Davidson
Fiona started her career as an artist comparatively late in life, after working in finance for many years. Maybe it was a midlife crisis that sent her to art classes or maybe it was a natural continuation of a lifelong interest in writing, music and travel, but it was as if she had found her natural calling.
She found her way into the world of classical realism via the atelier system. This appealed to her as it provided a natural bridge between the world of a hardheaded Scottish accountant and the landscape artist who wonders what colour a cloud is. She is using her training with both the Aristides Atelier and the Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art as a basis for her work, whilst developing her own style.
The atelier system has provided her with the technical skills of drawing and painting so that she can try to capture images of the world as she sees it. We all look at life through the lens of our own experience, the beauty, the joy, the sadness and those fleeting moments in which we understand each other and share the way we see the world are, for her, what makes art relevant.
Fiona is happy to discuss commissions, and some of her artwork has been made into greeting cards, which will be available online and in shops.
