This painting was inspired by romantic landscape painting and the empty and abandoned boats discovered during walks in the Scottish Highlands. Painted from memory back at the studio.
I paint an imaginative impression of place that is observed from the real world. In a consumerist culture that values exploitation of the land, I hope my work re-awakens a sense of wonder, restoring connection to the natural world.
