Sold and directly dispatched by: Cat CoulsonCatherine is a visual artist based in Kirkcudbright. Her work celebrates the detail and complexity of natural habitats and considers how in contrast, we experience them as calm, reflective spaces. She explores concepts of transience and shifting atmosphere, depth and mystery, imperfection and patina from weather, decay and growth. She captures and expresses the emotional quality such places generate in us, making paintings that look beyond visual representation to describe a closer experience. In 2000 she received a BA Hons Visual Arts degree and in 2014 completed oil painting specialisms in Abstraction, Expressionism and Impressionism at the Norfolk Painting School. Cat lives on the Colvend Coast in Dumfries and Galloway and works in a variety of nature reserves and sensitive habitats across the region. Her work aims to demonstrate thought and responsibility in its themes and materials, using specialist environmentally conscious materials, mediums and paints.
