Selkirk is one of the first Royal Burghs and marks the site of one of the oldest settlements in what is now known as the Scottish Borders. St Mary’s Mill sits on the bank of the Ettrick Water, a tributary of the River Tweed.

The studios are all similar in size (around 200 sq ft.) and house a strong, close-knit community of artists and makers. The Selkirk artists regularly hold popular open studios and events for the local community making use of their communal areas.
