A new outdoor exhibition at St Paul’s Plaza is set to do more than showcase art, it tells the story of a creative community at the heart of Perth’s cultural future.

Presented by Perth & Kinross Council, the exhibition features over 20 artists, all based at Wasps’ Perth Creative Exchange, a former school transformed into one of the city’s most important creative hubs. By bringing their work out of the studios and into the public realm, the exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the talent, collaboration, and quiet daily graft that defines this unique artistic community.

Behind each artwork is a personal story rooted at Perth Creative Exchange. Textile artist Kerri Watson, for example, balances the precision of her craft with the unpredictability of hand processes, often working across disciplines in a studio environment that encourages experimentation. Just down the corridor, Karl Macrae has built a following for his vibrant, handmade textile pieces; his practice a testament to how accessible, joyful creativity can thrive in shared spaces.

For ceramicist Alan Paterson and contemporary ceramicist Ceri White, Wasps Studios provides not only the physical infrastructure required for their practice but also an informal network of knowledge-sharing, where techniques, materials, and ideas are exchanged. Meanwhile, artists like Marion Archibald, who combines visual art with traditional bookbinding, represent the depth of craft skills being sustained and reimagined within the building.

Perth Creative Exchange continues to grow as a focal point for artists, designers and cultural producers, fostering enterprise, collaboration and creativity in Perthshire.

An opening event, Picnic in St Paul’s, will take place on Saturday 20 June (starting at 1pm), offering an opportunity for the public to meet the featured artists and celebrate the launch of the exhibition.

Visit the exhibition at St Paul’s Plaza from 20 June until 14 August.
