Langstane Place, one of Wasps’ buildings in Aberdeen, is part of this year’s Doors Open Days Festival. The artists based there are welcoming visitors in for one day only to browse their studios and explore the former print works.

A group of the artists based at the Highlands’ first creative hub are excited be hosting an Open Studios event this July.

Visit Inverness Creative Academy on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July for a look around the studio spaces of the talented artists calling the building their creative home.

We are excited to announce that the tenants of The Briggait building are hosting an Open Studios event on the last weekend of May.

Stop by on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May (11am-4pm) to see inside the artistic spaces of these talented people that call The Briggait their creative home.

As part of Dundee Month of Design, Meadow Mill studios are opening their doors once again for an Open Studios weekend.

Wasps at Meadow Mill is the biggest collective of artists, designers and makers in Dundee; with nearly sixty studios spread over three floors, you will find everything you could want from the worlds of fashion, textiles, jewellery, ceramics, print, painters, sculptors and more! Pop along to this family friendly event to see inside the designers’ workplaces, chat with the designers and artists, learn about their process, and you will have the opportunity to buy from them direct. There will also be creative activities for kids and a coffee shop pop up on the 4th floor. The weekend is free to attend and is wheelchair accessible. It is always a pleasure to open our studio doors and afford the public a glimpse into our working lives here.

The very first Wasps Studio building was in Dundee and has been at Meadow Mill since 1989. Wasps (Workshop and Artist Studio Provisions Scotland) is a charity that provides affordable studio spaces to individual artists and art organisations across Scotland. There are currently around 1000 artists and 30 arts organisations working in 20 buildings from Scalloway in the Shetlands to Kirkcudbright, making WASPS the largest creative community in the country.  Originally set up in 1977 by artist Bob McGilvray in Dundee, Wasps has provided an invaluable service to Scotland’s creative sector for over 40 years and the Wasps network is expanding. Over the past few years, new studio facilities have opened up in Inverness and Perth.  Wasps provides a fantastic service to the creative and economic wellbeing of Scotland’s arts community and to its wider cultural audience.

Participating artists include: Penelope Anstice, Rachel Bride Ashton, Anne Bell, Robin Bell, Cally Booker, Ruby Coyne, Jen Collins, Judith Davies, Susan Doyle, Alistair Evans, Jolene Guthrie, Jonathan Hood, Zsofia Jakab, Louise Kirby, Astrid Leeson, Steph Liddle, Theresa Lynn, Laurie-Lynn McGlynn, Neil McIntee, Maggie Milne, Wan Nee, Cara Rooney, John Scott, Suzanne Scott, Tracey Stewart, Lauren Swan and Graham Wallace.

The tenants of Eagle House and Langstane Place have come together to host an Open Studios weekend on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December.

Among those participating are painters, printmakers and textile artists. There will also be a preview event on the evening of Friday 2 December which you are welcome to join.

The tenants of Patriothall Studios in Stockbridge are opening their studios for the public to visit on the last weekend of November.

Among those participating will be sculptors, painters and textile makers. Open Studios events are a great chance for those interested in contemporary art practice to see the artists’ working environments, and potentially purchase works of art directly from the maker.

The tenants of Hanson Street are opening their doors to visitors this October. Visit on the weekend and see inside the creative spaces of ceramicists, glass makers, painters, textile artists and more. Some of the tenants that’ll be welcoming you in are the Glasgow Glass Studio, Allyson Keehan, Louise Scott, PULP (Paper-making and book-binding) and Joe O’Brien.

Come and meet the artists of the Langstane Place for the North East Open Studios event, Saturday 10-Sunday 18 September. Open Studios are a great opportunity to meet artists in their working spaces, talk about their practices, and buy their work directly from them.

Langstane Place is a former print works located in the centre of Aberdeen, just off Union Street. The building houses 32 studios over three floors and currently supports 39 artists working from painting to textiles, puppetry to photography. Participants in the Open Studios are; Lynne Hocking (Lynne’s Loom), Catriona Platten, Lorraine Taylor, Wilma Dunbar, Fiona Swapp, Sandra Johnston and Debby Forsyth.

The tenants of the historic Briggait building are opening up their creative spaces to you for the final week of October this year. You’ll be able to get a glimpse of works in progress and see what goes on behind the scenes for the jewellers, painters, illustrators, ceramicists and printmakers that practice and create there. Amongst those participating are Margaret Archbold, Frank Boyle, Ailsa Ritchie, Louise Evans and James Hamilton.

Come celebrate with Glasgow Ceramics Studio for the opening of their new community open access studio with a day of free workshops, tours, open studios, demonstrations and a pop-up gallery of members’ work. Glasgow Ceramics Studio is taking part in Glasgow Open Doors Day 2022, all information for booking the free clay experience workshops, details of the tours and the open studios can be found in the event link. Glasgow Ceramics Studios are opening their doors to give a rare glimpse of the studio spaces and members work. There will be free demonstrations and bookable workshops taking place as well as ceramic artists showing and discussing their work and how the studio runs. Glasgow Ceramics Studios are celebrating their new open access studio, funded initially by Creative Scotland and a private donor, and a full program of workshops, open access membership and schemes that support groups and individuals to work with clay. They are excited to welcome you to their studios and to take part in a free workshop. As part of the Doors Open Day theme, City in Flux, there will be an informal talk about the history of the building and Dennistoun. Formerly Will’s Tobacco Factory, built in 1953, Hanson Street Studios was redeveloped in 2001 to become Scotland’s first purpose-built studio and events complex for up to 200 artists with a large events/gallery space.

Free Workshop 1 @11.30am-1pm for 12 people: Come along and enjoy a hand building workshop with Melanie O’Donnell. You will have the opportunity to make a small vessel and learn about various forms of decoration including stamping, low relief and slip painting.

Free Workshop 2 @2pm-3.30pm for 12 people: Come along and enjoy a tile making workshop with Alison Gray. You will have the opportunity to create your own handmade tile, using texture, sgraffito and low relief techniques

Studio tour 1 @ 12:30pm: Led by our current Interns Eilidh and Amos, Glasgow Ceramics Studios are opening their doors to give a rare glimpse of the studio spaces and members work. There will be free demonstrations and ceramic artists on hand, showing and discussing their work and how the main studio and the open access studio runs.

Studio tour 2 @ 2:30pm: Led by our long-time member Louise McVey, again you will tour both studios, meet members and their work and hear about the history of the former Will’s Tobacco Factory, built in 1953.There will be work for sale in our pop-up gallery – appearing in the studio for Doors Open Day only (and other selected events), which will return back online to Instagram after the launch for Doors Open Day.
