NORTH is the first exhibition of Visual Arts Scotland’s Compass exhibition programme; a series of exhibitions connecting the North, South, East and West of Scotland, and arguably their most ambitious project to date. For both the Council and Membership, this programme is an exciting opportunity to engage with new spaces and locations. It is also, most importantly, a chance to connect with the VAS Members on a wider scale than what has been done before.
The exhibition brings together Professional, Ordinary and Associate Members of Visual Arts Scotland working across a fantastic breadth of media. After a highly successful digital showcase with REVERB, Visual Arts Scotland are delighted to return to exhibiting in person and invite audiences to join us for a celebration of art, craft and creative community.
Amanda Airey, VAS Vice President, says: VAS is thrilled to be exhibiting at Inverness Creative Academy. It has been a long-term ambition of ours to be able to extend our exhibition programme beyond the central belt; to be able to reflect the geographical spread of our Members and showcase their talent across the country. NORTH is the first of four events in our ‘Compass’ programme, through which we are curating exhibitions in the North, South, East and West of Scotland. Significantly, this will be our first physical show open to the public since the start of the pandemic, and as such we are very excited to be back in the gallery and in such a fantastic space.
