Open to Interpretation presents a selection of acrylic on canvas works by the artists for her second solo exhibition in Glasgow.

Open to Interpretation shows how the artist’s practice has evolved as she has created artworks of new sizes and themes whilst remaining focused on the abstract style. Minimalism has remained an important factor, this is evident in the colour palette selections and canvas design layouts. The single-word titles have been chosen to reflect the meaning that each painting has to the artist. The work exhibited is intended to be visually explored by viewers in different ways. Elsie produces and exhibits one-off original paintings.

Professionalism is acquired through experience and practice. Her design background is reflected in her works as the individual course briefs required applying skills and knowledge to produce polished high-quality projects. She applies her technical software and digital scale planning experience to create artwork designs that need a large amount of precision to produce.

ElsieHillDesigns has expanded to sell a range of products including original acrylic on canvas artworks, limited edition prints, and printed mugs.

Elsie Hill (creator of ElsieHillDesigns) is a full-time artist based in Glasgow. She studied Interior Design at Edinburgh University graduating in 2021 with a BA (Hons) degree from Edinburgh College of Art. Focusing solely on fine art, her original paintings are influenced by abstract artists including Mark Rothko, Piet Mondrian and American-based artist Sean Scully. She produces abstract artworks consisting of bold colours, sharp lines, and scaled shapes in her preferred medium of acrylic on canvas.

Elsie is a solo artist working in her studio in The Briggait. Her first solo exhibition was held in February 2023 over a two-week period. ‘Vision Fruition’; her first exhibition, was advertised in The Herald Magazine as well as her single-sided programme which was printed in the Metro Newspaper on multiple occasions.
