The exhibition Pursuit is a showcase of artist development that seeks to explore the initial thought process behind artists’ work. There is always the question of ‘what’s the meaning behind this work and why make it?’ when viewing art.

The art world often overlooks artist research, but through the lens of ‘pursuit’ the artist is given the opportunity to unravel their development and artistic practice.

The Gallery Society’s aim is to create a contemporary student art community within Edinburgh and the University. They provide a platform for Edinburgh students and beyond, to exhibit their work in a professional art environment, bridging the gap between student and professional artistic practice. ‘Pursuit’ is an opportunity for visitors to witness the works of upcoming and talented artists represented by the society.

Founded in 2020, The Edinburgh Gallery Society aims to promote student artists, and create an accessible space that deconstructs elitist stereotypes that dominate the arts industry. Their aim is to create a space for showcasing the many student artists in Edinburgh, and provide useful skills for those wanting to work in the art industry.
