An exhibition of mostly new work showing John’s personal response to the Isle of Skye: home of his ancestors.

In 1971 my father, John Nicholson, wrote a genealogy ‘The Nicolsons of Edinbane’. Although born a Glaswegian, he always felt a strong affinity to the home of his forebears and passed that down to me. Working towards this exhibition has helped me to get to know Skye better and my paintings are a response to my feelings for the island.

I wish to dedicate the exhibition to my father’s memory.

John Nicholson completed his art training at the Byam Shaw in London and worked for many years as a teacher of Art and Design. He took up a studio at Inverness Creative Academy in December 2018.
