Fiona Wilson
- Mixed media
- Painting & Drawing
- Printmaking
Fiona Wilson was born in London but has lived in the West of Scotland most of her life. Living in such a cold and wet place inspires most of her work to celebrate colour as an antidote, like the great Scottish Colourists before her.
After graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1991, Fiona Wilson taught Art & Design subjects in UK Universities & Collages until 2004, when she left to pursue her dream and passion of being a dedicated painter and printmaker. However, she continues her love of helping others by offering one-to-one art mentoring sessions, demonstrations, workshops and in person and online courses.
She works across a range painting and drawing media with an experimental approach, with a desire to modernise the formal oil painting training she took over the last decade. She also makes unique monotype prints and screenprints at The Glasgow Print Studio, where she is a tutor.
Fiona shows regularly in galleries across the UK and has pieces in private collections across the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia as well as works in the Public UK Art Fund. She has exhibited at the RSA open, RGI, PAI and was pre-selected for the prestigious BP Portrait prize in 2016.
