Libby Mitchell (br 1994) is a Visual Artist based in the WASPS Inverness Creative Academy. Graduating in 2019 from Latrobe College of Art & Design in Melbourne, Australia, she has since travelled Aotearoa New Zealand as a Landscape & wildlife Artist, taking inspiration from her time working as a Landscape Gardener.
“Having returned to the United Kingdom, something I have had a lot of trouble readjusting to is the decimation of native woodland and forestry plantations in its place, which I feel lack the same romance. Drawing on colour psychology, these paintings displayed have become a way for me to process difficult life events and emotions by associating colours with happy memories, sounds, such as birdsong, and smells. My palette is a reflection of my own multi-sensory experiences and memories of the Pindan deserts of Northern Territory, to the flower of the Puriri tree in New Zealand. Each colour tells its own personal story and how accessible untouched nature used to feel.”
